Ada Health announces exclusive partnership with Obeikan to improve health outcomes in the Middle East

  • Ada’s industry-leading digital health technologies adapted for Saudi Arabian market
  • Partnership aims to positively impact the health of the country’s 30M people

Berlin & Riyadh, 20 October 2020Ada, the global health company focused on improving human health by transforming knowledge into better health outcomes, today announces an exclusive partnership with Obeikan Digital Solutions a subsidiary of Obeikan Investment Group. Obeikan group is one of the largest private, family-run conglomerates in Saudi Arabia, with headquarters in Riyadh. The company provides B2B, B2C and B2G integrated solutions for the MENA regions with a specialization in manufacturing and a growing focus on education and digital. Obeikan Investment Group “OIG” selected Ada to localize and deploy Ada’s industry-leading digital health technologies for the MENA region, with an initial focus on Saudi Arabia.

The partnership with Obeikan is a key step in Ada’s global growth and is the company’s first expansion into the Middle East region, which has a population of over 410m people, many of whom lack access to trusted medical guidance.

Ada’s technology draws upon best-in-class medical knowledge and a proprietary, probabilistic reasoning and inference engine, to provide trusted, relevant, actionable and effective medical guidance tailored to the needs of the local population. Ada empowers users to make more informed healthcare decisions while helping the existing healthcare landscape to provide more effective quality care. Ada's solution has the potential to enhance triage to appropriate care and secure integration with partner's IT systems and workflows.

More than just a localization into Arabic, tailoring Ada’s technology has involved collaborating with Obeikan to ensure that the app is adapted to the region’s local requirements, taking into account things like linguistic nuances and the region-specific incidence of conditions.

Obeikan, headquartered in Riyadh, is focused on accelerating socio-economic growth in the region and brings deep, regional expertise in education, healthcare and digitization to the partnership. Its ambition is to create more sustainable and inclusive societal outcomes aligned with the Country’s Vision 2030 plan and with Ada’s purpose to improve human health by transforming knowledge into better outcomes.

The collaboration with Obeikan will allow Ada to further expand its global reach and positively impact the health of 30M people in Saudi Arabia. Obeikan and Ada will work together to integrate its technology in public and private healthcare systems across the region, providing trusted medical guidance that is relevant, actionable and effective.

Initially, a translated and localized version of Ada’s symptom assessment and navigation solution will be integrated into TAJ Digital Health, an Obeikan telemedicine app company, becoming the world's first third-party integration of this kind. Ada is being integrated natively with the TAJ mobile app through Ada’s Enterprise software development kit (SDK), with further functionality being planned for seamless care, including assessment handover to clinicians through an electronic health record (EHR) application programming interface (API) integration.

Daniel Nathrath, CEO and co-founder of Ada Health, said: “From the beginning, our team has been focused on how we can collaborate with organizations around the world to have the largest global impact and support better health outcomes for all. Our initial collaboration with Obeikan Group in Saudi Arabia is an opportunity for us to have an early impact, gather local insights and further evolve our solutions to support the needs of the broader region.”

Eng. Abdallah Obeikan, Group CEO of Obeikan Investment Group said: “Bringing digital innovation to healthcare is a key part of Obeikan’s digital vision. Digital health pioneers such as Ada can make a huge difference in the region, and we are excited to be working with Ada to make its technology available to 30m people in Saudi Arabia and then to the wider population of 410m people in the MENA region.”
